You have an opportunity till it’s gone

It felt like a lecture that a student being reprimanded for a bad behavior in school must endure. So similar to childhood days that for a moment I thought I was 11 years old all over again. However, I sat there put on my best smile while my heart screamed at me; if the screams distracted me, I can’t remember.

I am not complaining neither am I whining because as a result, I have learned an invaluable lesson that will be with me for a long time.

He said, “Getting an opportunity to do something is not easy and it is even harder when you get an opportunity and let it pass. You have to know when to tap on all the opportunities that come your way because if well analyzed, opportunities are connected and intertwined. It is all about being manipulative and imposing”. It is a lesson I have come to learn too well.

Window of Opportunity

It is the window of opportunity-  A short period during which an opportunity must be acted on or missed.

International Women’s Day

I find this poem very inspiring and I would like to share it especially on this day.

MAYA ANGELOU’S

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE …
enough money within her control to move out
and rent a place of her own,
even if she never wants to or needs to…
something perfect to wear if the employer,
or date of her dreams wants to see her in an hour…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ..

a youth she’s content to leave behind…..
a past juicy enough that she’s looking forward to
retelling it in her old age….
a set of screwdrivers, a cordless drill, and a black lace bra…
one friend who always makes her laugh… and one who lets her cry….

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE ….

a good piece of furniture not previously owned by anyone else in her family…
eight matching plates, wine glasses with stems,
and a recipe for a meal,
that will make her guests feel honored…

A WOMAN SHOULD HAVE .

a feeling of control over her destiny…
how to fall in love without losing herself..

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
how to quit a job,
break up with a lover,
and confront a friend without;
ruining the friendship….

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW….

when to try harder… and WHEN TO WALK A WAY…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…

that she can’t change ! the length of her calves,
the width of her hips, or the nature of her parents..
that her childhood may not have been perfect..but it’s over…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
what she would and wouldn’t do for love or more…
how to live alone… even if she doesn’t like it…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW.. .
whom she can trust,
whom she can’t,
and why she shouldn’t take it personally…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
where to go…
be it to her best friend’s kitchen table..
or a charming Inn in the woods…
when her soul needs soothing…

EVERY WOMAN SHOULD KNOW…
What she can and can’ t accomplish in a day…
a month…and a year….

Posted in Grateful, Grateful on my birthday!

Grateful

Today I celebrate my birthday and I am so grateful for all what I have been, what I am going to be and for all the wonderful people in my life.

I totally love birthdays and this one is no exception.

I realize now more than ever that life is such a precious gift. In the face of whatever happens, I will be grateful because there is always something to be grateful for.

Whatever life holds for me, I am indebted. For life, for enjoyment, for happiness, peace, for well being. For everything that I have, am and am going to be. It is a privilege to be alive. To be able to live and enjoy and give. My heart is full of gratitude!
